I.T., can I help you? Or how can I not?

As someone who works in IT all day long, even when I am not being paid, there is one thing that really gets under my skin and thats people who don’t pay attention the first time you show them something. Even when you take your time and show them step-by-step how to change a font or show a toolbar or Save-As, they never get it. It sends me into an eye twitching raging. Its like, my achilles heel. I can’t take it anymore. What brand of super special do you need to be, to not understand how to do something as simple as save a document in another format, that you need to call me EVERY TIME that you do it. I of course cannot snap and rage on you, other than to grit through my teeth and say “Sure, I’ll show this to you again. Why don’t you take notes again.”.

Or the people that don’t want to do a certain task at work and then they just pawn it off on me. Is it my job to write an email for you, that you should be writing anyway? Why is it coming from me? Maybe I just expect people to do their own job. Is that too much to ask in this day and age?

You can’t print to your networked printer because you sent 20 jobs to it in 2 minutes to jam up the spooler or your local attached printer because you keep shutting it off and trying to print to it and clog up the spooler there? Ok, no problem, I can fix that. The second you start calling me and asking me dumb shit, like how to do your work faster or asking me to show you how to do the “copy paste thing” I am going to instantly hate you.

I’m so over morons in the work place. Over it.
